CANDLE CARE

To ensure you have a long lasting, full fragranced soy candle it is important to know the following information.

Candle Apperance

Please remember here at Soy Lovely candles, all our candles are hand poured. Although all effort is made to ensure consistency, every candle will be slightly different. The top of your candle may also appear slightly uneven, this is also a sign of natural soy wax being hand poured

Frosting

  • Frosting is caused by a natural byproduct in soy wax, it is caused by small crystal growths that form on the top and sides of the wax. Frosting in no way affects the candle.

  • When using completely natural soy wax, sometimes you may notice darker patches or wet spots in your container candles. This is simply a small blemish where the wax has not adhered to the glass 100%. This does not affectthe candle in any way.

Wick Trimming
When you receive you candle your wick will be trimmed to 0.5cm. This enables the candle to burn correctly, it is important to trim the wick back to its original length after each burn to prevent the wick falling into the wax pool.

Extinguishing Your Candle

  • Rather than blowing your candle it is best to extinguish your candle by dipping the wick into the melted wax and straighten.

  • This will stop the wick smoking and will help with re-lighting the next time.

Maximizing Burn Time

  • When lighting a soy candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container.

  • The first burn of the candle should last as long as it takes to reach all the way to the edges of the container.

  • This will give you maximum fragrance and an even burn. If you do not allow the wax to pool on the first burn you may get wax remaining along the sides of your container.
